Melissa "The Tigress" Pryor
Darts has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my Dad had a steel-tip dart board in our game room. I used to play with my Dad and he would teach me the rules, strategy and sportsmanship of the game. I'll never forget the Christmas that my Dad got me my first set of darts, I felt so grown up. My Dad was good friends with many bar owners in the area. When I turned 14 he asked one bar owner if I could play league with him when they had home games. The bar owner agreed and I started playing leagues with my Dad.
My Dad took me to my first big steel-tip tournament in Melbourne, Florida when I was around 14. I remember playing against Kelly Meares and wondering how she got so good. A few years later Kelly and I became really good friends and we decided to go to the Chicago Bullshooter Finals together. I was only 17 when Kelly and I won 1st place in Chicago. I'll never forget the feeling I had when I walked into the dart hall for the first time and saw all those dart boards, it was like a dream. When the time came to play the finals in the bullpen I was beyond nervous, but we WON. My Dad couldn't of been happier for me and from then on I was hooked.
Since that win in Chicago I've traveled to numerous tournaments around the country, both soft and steel-tip. During this time I've had the pleasure of meeting some great darts players, wonderful friends and my amazing Husband "Rodney Pryor!" I've also had the pleasure of playing with some extremely talented dart players who have helped me become the dart player that I am today.
I had to take the past few years off from traveling to focus on my new career. Now I'm finally at the point where I can travel again the way I used to. My game has improved much since then. I would like to thank Dart Brokers for believing in my talent and sportsmanship. I believe this partnership will not only help with my own personal game, but increase the interest and growth of the sport I love so much.
